Social Groups
(For Fun, Service and Study)
SECONDCHURCH SOCIAL GROUPS?The church office would like to update our member lists of Clubs and Guilds/Circles. I have printed out the list of members as we have them in our computer and put them on the bulletin board next to the drinking fountain in the hallway by the offices. Please take a moment to check them out and make any corrections. Thank you!
WOMEN'S FELLOWSHIP
The purpose of the Women's Fellowship "shall be to encourage and aid the women of the congregation in a fellowship of worship, education, service and giving; to undergird the program of the Second Congregational United Church of Christ as it serves the cause of Christ in the community and throughout the world."
The Women's Fellowship is comprised of active circles:
- The Advance Circle
- The Anderson /Rebekah Guild
- The Laynie Mahacek Guild
- The Elizabeth Kollnot Circle
- The Pilgrim Guild
Individual guilds and circles share information on their fellowship and service events, and work together on many service projects throughout the year. These include projects such as:
- Christmas Mitten Tree Project for Fort Berthold, North Dakota.
- Blanket Sunday. Money contributed is sent to Church World Service for blankets to distribute worldwide as needed.
- Health, sewing and school kits, layettes, sweaters, sheets, blankets and uniforms are ingathered for Church World Service to distribute world wide.
- "Fellowship of the Least Coin."
- Ongoing projects such as collecting eyeglasses for the Association for the Blind, Pilgrim Manor gifts, Homework House goodie bags, Items for Liz's House, Bill Knapp receipts for kitchen equipment and Christian Education equipment, Meijer's receipts collected and redeemed for cash, and Spartan store labels (UPCs).
- Second Best Sales, usually in November and May are enjoyed by all.
- Lenten Worship Series and White Breakfast, every Tuesday morning during Lent. The services feature guest speakers with a time of fellowship afterward. The White Breakfast culminates the series on the Tuesday of Holy Week.
The Women's Fellowship invites the participation of every woman in the church.

SERENDIPITY SMALL GROUPS
A variety of Serendipity small groups provide fantastic opportunity to grow spiritually and to form lasting friendships with other people. Small groups of less than twelve meet monthly in each other?s homes. While having fun and fellowship together, they share thoughts about Bible stories and daily life concerns. Every meeting also has a time to pray together.
These groups have trained leaders and use a variety of Serendipity Small Group books which guide the group in interesting and non-threatening discussions. You don't have to know the Bible to be a part!
If you would like to join a Serendipity Small Group, or would like to become a leader of a group, please call the church office (361-2629).
