The Rev. Peter St. Martin served as a Chaplain in the United States Navy for 21 years. His most recent deployment was aboard the USS Nassau where he served a crew of 2,000 Marines and Sailors. He has also seen two deployments in combat situations, overseen a retreat program, and has served a total of 11 years at on base Chapels.
The USS Nassau returned from its seven month deployment in mid-August 2010. Pete's last day of active service was September 13, 2010 - he retired with rank of Commander. On January 1, 2011, Pete joins Second Congregational UCC as its Senior Minister.
Prior to his service in the Navy, Pete served as Associate Minister at First Parish Church in Brunswick, Maine for three years where he was primarily responsible for youth ministry along with regular preaching and worship leading responsibilities. For the five years before that he served as Pastor at First Congregational Church in Cresco, Iowa.
Pete and his wife Judy have been married for 31 years and have two daughters. Lisa is married an living in Richmond, Virginia and Sarah lives in Kent, Washington.
Pete was born in Owatonna, Minnesota and was raised outside Salt Lake City, Utah. He received his B.S. in Statistics from the University of Utah and his Masters of Divinity from Claremont School of Theology in Claremont, California. He was ordained in the UCC on October 25, 1981.
