Aberdeen School
We have "adopted" Aberdeen School, a Grand Rapids Public elementary school near the church.  Members of the Church serve as penpals for a 4th grade class, listen to children read, provide tutoring, and help organize the library.  We are looking for more volunteers so that we can provide even more service to Aberdeen School.  Our congregation's coordinator of this ministry is Barb Savage.

Supper House
Second Church people serve dinner to community people at Supper House at St. Alphonsus School.

Mobile Food Pantries
A few times a year we purchase a mobile food pantry and pass out its  fresh food to those who need extra food.  In the past we have done this in our church parking lot and at In the Image, in the southeast part of town.

In the Image
We support In the Image, an organization that provides clothing, furniture, and household items to people at no cost and with dignity. We help with In the Image’s S.H.O.E.S. program, providing shoes for elementary children and helping them find shoes that they like and fit.  Members of our congregation also sort clothes for the In the Image store.  

Vacation Bible School
VBS is an outreach ministry for our congregation, as 4/5 of the children come from outside the church.  Every summer about 50 volunteers give their time to show and tell the children of God’s love and our love.

Church Carnival
This is a carnival for the neighborhood.  Church folks pass out food, operate games, and introduce people to our ministries.

Youth Summer Mission Trip
Every other summer our Senior High youth go to a place to do hands on ministry.  We’ve gone to Coal mining towns in West Virginia, Pine Ridge Native American Reservation in South Dakota, and done innercity ministry in Washington, D.C..

GRACE Hunger Walk
Second Church members and friends walk to raise money for local charities.
